SPORTS MASSAGE – An overview

Who is it for?
Anyone who engages in active leisure pursuits will benefit from Sports Massage. Whether you are an enthusiastic keep-fitter, or a fully committed amateur athlete, or sportsman or woman, Sports Massage can help you both prepare for, and recover from, your activity, so that you always perform at the top of your game.

What is it?
Sports massage has developed from Swedish massage and works on the same principles of increasing oxygen flow in the blood and releasing toxins from muscles. Additionally some sports massage movements focus on trigger points to break down ‘knots’ in muscles and to increase range of movement.

How long does it take?
A full body sports massage takes at least one hour. A massage for one specific body area, for example, legs/glutes or a pre-event sports massage takes between 15 and 45 minutes.
